Making Sense out of Lines

Posted Nov 2018

Drawing Eyes again tonight. This time I was just making them up ~ No reference material.

I'm trying to make sense out of what kind of lines to use when ~ like we can ever figure it all out.

But still this is helpful. Sort of like Body Exercises before Moving Gracefully throughout the Day.

Then and Now

Oh my goodness ~ Time Off ~ Relaxing ~ Just surfing around on the Computer ~ and I found this website. Oh my goodness. Fascinating. It shows a photo of a person when s/he was a young adult ~ next to a similar photo of the same person at about 100 years old. Oh my!

Art is like Swimming

Getting back to confidently (aka happily) drawing Caricatures again. I put the Portrait drawing in its place.

Yes I do them both. But at Different Times! They are Not the same.

Yes the Drawing Fundamentals are the Same for Any type of drawing. Caricatures. Portraits. Even Drafting. But my approach is completely different for the different types of drawings.

Here's a simile (metaphor?) about it: Drawing Caricatures is like Drawing Portraits the way Baking a Cake is like Making Chicken Soup.

Or or.... Drawing a Caricature is like Drawing a Portrait the way Running a Marathon is to Bench Pressing.

how about.... Drawing a Caricature is like Drawing a Portrait the way my Website is to Setting up Linotype.

I like playing with Words. I like Drawing Pictures. All kinds of Pictures. But I better be into the Caricatures today. Because I have Caricature Jobs on Friday and Saturday.

I already know what I'm doing

Posted Nov 2018

Got to be careful about overly trying to apply last night's studies. I'm a Professional Artist who already studied this sort of stuff many years ago. Since then, I've figured out what works when I'm drawing at Parties. I make Fresh Caricatures ~ frequently with a usable bent.

My first inclination tonight was to control the Caricatures and fuss with the Few bright Colorsticks that I have here in my office. Of course, it looked Tight. And if I'm doing the same things as a Beginner, my Artwork looks like a Beginner's.

Then I was able to remember a little more about they way I had been drawing Caricatures Before I did last night's Realism studies. Redrew the same Caricatures better. I hope I'll find time to make a few more of these better ones Before this week's Events. I want to get my pen moving faster again.

Following are the Caricatures that I did Not like ~ followed by Redraws that are Better:
