Photographing my Pictures

Posted 3 days ago

I drew this Caricature on Shiny Paper. Shiny Glossy White Paper. I like the Feel of how the Marker Glides on Shiny Glossy Paper.

But which is the better way to Photograph it? I wish the Photo just looked like the thing I was photographing. I wish the Paper in the Photo looked like it was the Same Color as the Color of the Paper that I chose. But no. Doesn't work like that.

The photo that looks like the paper has a Pinkish tinge ~ that one was Unmaninpulated ~ Photographed with the ORIGINAL Setting on my Phone. Probably picks up the Warm Tones of the Lightbulb in this office.

The photo that looks like the paper has a Bluish tinge ~ that one was done with the Setting called VIVID COOL.

I feel like the photograph done with the ORIGINAL Setting ~ looks warmer, nicer, more approachable. A person might prefer to see himself in this light.

I feel like the photograph done with the VIVID COOL Setting would more likely be described as being on White Paper. Looks cleaner, fresher, newer.

So I don't know which is the better way to Photograph it. But I feel soooo glad that I'm writing about it here. Because I can Finally let go of my Angst about this issue ~ trying it both ways, looks looking trying to figure out which photo to post. I now see that IT USUALLY DOESN'T MATTER WHICH ONE I CHOOSE. They're both good. Different, but good. and if there is some reason why I want this Setting or That Setting, I now know a little more about Photography

Loosening Up

Posted 6 days ago

I've been handling FACE PAINTING Events for the past week. Gotta get back into CARICATURES for tomorrow's Event.

So I used a photo from a previous event as Reference, and I drew it again now. Just to loosen up and get back into CARICATURING. So I picked up a scrap paper (wrong colored paper for This CARICATURE), and an old marker that I would never use at an actual Event, and I drew this picture. I love it. I'm back in my Zone

Graceful Hands

Posted 24 days ago

Recently spending time dreaming up Mermaid Caricatures, I felt inspired to look into Graceful Hands. At first, I carefully drew this pose with bent fingers. But too much care went into it to actually use it at Parties. Where things have to be done Fast. I Stopped.

I extrapolated what was important about this. I feel like it's the bend in the wrist ~ which shows the palm from underneath. Anytime a hand comes up in my pictures now, I might quickly jump into "To show the palm, or Not to show the palm" ~ that is a question. That would be useful for me in designing pictures on the spot.
