Digital Artwork

Posted Aug 2013

I enjoy using the new Art Supplies. Any one Studio picture can flip between IPad's ArtStudio, Computer's PhotoShop, Paper with Markers and Colorsticks, The Lightbox..... And I still use Pencils with Erasers. Different Supplies are best for handling different aspects of the Artwork.

For instance, I prefer using PhotoShop for Warping Text, but I prefer using IPad for Coloring. So I have to send a picture back and forth. I discovered that it's easy to Export the picture directly from the IPad ~ there's a dropdown menu for 'Export by email'. But I have to save the picture to my Desktop and then pick it up from the Desktop if I want to email it from PhotoShop. Extra fussy-steps.

So I wrote a note to myself about that. And I chose to keep the note because I want to remember how easily I made the Camophlage-style background when I wrote that note.

The Artist has new toys.

IPad Commissions

Posted Jul 2013

Oh Yes ~ Now I'm really into this. Happy to be using my IPad for Studio work. I spend so much time patiently going into All the Pixels. I actually like doing this. I hope to get lots more IPad Commissions.

In this case, I followed my clients instructions of course. He likes a lot of Words in his pictures. Good thing that I just like using the IPad.

Client was very pleased ~ His presentation went over well.
But I have to get it faster if I ever want to use my IPad at Parties and Events.

UPDATE 2017: Egads ~ When I remember how crude it felt to use those old styluses on the IPads, I feel thrilled about our New Technology. These days I've switched to the White Pencil and the ProCreate App, and I would never consider working with the Supplies that I had when I made these CARICATURES.

Digital

Posted Jun 2013

Oh Yay ~ I got my first job doing IPad Caricatures. And as usual, I'm not given more than I can handle. This job is for Studio work. So I don't have to be concerned about Speed.

I hope I'll have time to do it all on the IPad. Because I'm trying to get comfortable enough to put together an IPad Set-Up to use live at Events. But I'm not worried about coming through with good Artwork for this job because I can always move it into PhotoShop on my regular Computer if I get stuck. The order is only for a Digital Caricature, so PhotoShop is just as acceptable. I've done that plenty of times before. PhotoShop Caricatures.

And sure enough, before I even got started, I was hit with a complication. I always send digital Caricatures as jpegs in an email. But this client wants it sent as a pdf file. So I tried it before agreeing to the job. And I found out that ArtStudio on IPad doesn't offer pdf as an option. So I tried an experiment.

I drew a quick little picture on my IPad. I emailed that to myself as jpegs. From that email on my regular Computer, I pulled the jpeg picture into PhotoShop. In PhotoShop, I found something called PhotoShop pdf. I saved it as the PhotoShop pdf, emailed it to my client, and told her to only order the picture if this works for her.

I'm going to try to put both files onto this post. To see if it works here. The first one is the jpg picture, the way I usually put pictures onto this blog. The second one is the PhotoShop pdf picture.

Oh ick. They look the same. But when I was uploading them, I got all sorts of messages of things like the pdf picture might not be able to be edited. As always, I'm glad to be able to send my client what she wants. But I would prefer to have it as jpegs if I had a choice.

the 60's

Posted Mar 2012

ah yes - that's my style - art from the 60's - psychodelic ~ Client said that her brother liked the Beatles, his Motorcycle.... Sent me photos that showed him at a girls horseback-riding show, that showed him on matching gift-motorcycles with his wife and big ribbons......

here's what I came up with:
