Art is for Fun

December 3rd, 2009

This one was quick and easy for me.
Although sometimes I’m studying,
most of the time I’m just having fun.

Let’s get real.
Art is supposed to be for Fun.

Coloring Books !

August 4th, 2009

I am so in sync with Coloring Books.
It’s like they became part of me when I was a child.

I stepped right into this project as though I was coming home.
Here are four Coloring Pages that a Clown recently ordered
to give out with her Contact Information on the bottom of
each page:

Wow!

August 2nd, 2009

I just came across this batch of photos,
and all I can say is Wow! I was really On
that day.

These are more of this pictures that I drew
of graduating High School seniors last June:

I sure hope I can remember my approach, my mood, of that day. I think I can, but sometimes it becomes trite when it becomes labeled - and then it doesn’t work any more.

Soooo, tonight’s another gig. I hope I’ll be able to be the same person I was last June. Lol - that’s funny. And that might be the key to understanding Artwork. Every day, every picture, every moment - is a new experience.

The Group

July 28th, 2009

Okay. So here’s what happened at the Party.

The Guest of Honor didn’t show up until I was there for over half an hour. And
when she did, she wanted to go around to all the tables before
getting in to the picture.

So I was taken by Surprise. Having planned on drawing her first, I instead had
to try to leave room for her. This put a crinkle in my plans. Without the main person to relate to, I didn’t know how to design the picture. Without meaning to do so, faces started to frame the center which I was trying to leave available for the Guest of Honor. It started to look like everyone was rotating out from the center of the picture - designed like a Ferris-Wheel or something. Lalala -
it would look like I did it on purpose but I sure didn’t. It is a design, but I would not have liked it. Dorky. Contrived. Controlled.

It was hard, but I forced a change in the picture. I started flipping the people around. Took a chance, and it worked! Whew!

But then, when the guest of honor arrived,
the only way her particular look would fit
into the space that was left
was to put her sort of sideways.
Luckily, there was still enough
time to add other people around her,
so it softened the situation.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m an Artist or a Magician.

The more experiences I have, the more I know
how to deal with every contingency that comes up.

I fit at least 20 people on this one 22×28 paper. It sure
looks like a big group of people when they all stood
together. Wow
