Drawing What’s Important

August 14th, 2011

Tonight’s gig was interesting. My Agent sent me to a house that was down the block from the house where I grew up. Arrived a few minutes early, parked beside a house where I used to play with a little girl named Valerie.

and….. everything changes. It was just another house for me. Like having been sent Anywhere. Except traveling to get there was real easy.

Black/White Party. I arrived early and practiced a few in the car. it was fun because I was getting in to the Exaggerations just the right amount.

A good time was had by all.

Caricatures and Face-Painting

June 11th, 2011

Did you know that I do Face-Painting as well as Caricatures? Well, I do….

Last night I did Face-Painting for the cutest Pre-School Graduation. I arrived early and had some time to play around with some ideas before the event.
I came up with a New Idea. Hark! A New Idea!

As of now, I’ve only done Either Caricatures Or Face-Painting at any one time.
Switching Setups back and forth feels crazy. But it could be Fun to try it this new way - the new idea I just came up with. (Stay tuned:-)

I can just Draw the ‘face-painting’ Onto the caricature. Like this:

Small extra fee because of the
extra skills and doubled concentration that this requires.

through rain or snow or sleet or hail

February 4th, 2011

I had to take some photos of the snow as I went to my gig last Saturday. First, umm, do I leave my house? I photographed the house before I went away:

Then, took some photos on the long ride out to the Hamptons. I hope I get a chance to post the photos of the great pictures I drew at the 9-year-old’s party.

I’m so glad I got myself out there, so glad I don’t use weather as an excuse to miss out on my life. Such interesting people. And it was in the coziest house - felt almost country out there, but classier of course.

Christmas Party

December 20th, 2010

Back in November, I was hired to draw for a company located in Rockefeller Plaza. To celebrate the Big Tree Lighting Ceremony! It was a hoot. Gridlock driving around Manhattan, took a garage back where I came in to the city and walked to the venue. But even the streets were

Stopped. People lined the streets to see the event, so they just

Stopped. Trying to get through with all my supplies…..
Wow - I was there. Right where people wanted to be! And
I was there!

Sooo, I finally got a chance to post some pictures from that event.
And I figure that this is a good day for it - Glad I could at least get it here before Christmas…..

(BTW - I didn’t draw the scene on the side of the papers. These preprinted papers were supplied to me by the venue. I only created the Caricature Part and all Color of course.)

I Meet the Nicest People

December 6th, 2010

One of the best things about my job is that I meet the nicest people.
I see a small slice of time with them while I try to draw quickly,
yet I’m still blessed with a sincere connection, sincere hearts.

Here’s a picture of one of those families. The 2-year-old child, so interested in everything going on around him. The watchful parents, so calm and in charge. Seeing real people in real time, I can appreciate how difficult parenting can be. I’m interested in everybody - all kinds of personalities and faces. And I’m so grateful to be included even if for just these few moments.

I’m glad I have this blog. To have opportunity to
thank the beautiful people that I meet.
