Plans

July 18th, 2010

I’m going to do this. I’m going to do that.
People have so many good ideas.
But if we don’t take action, get up, do it, ummmm, nothing changes.
Nothing gets done.

Here are 2 pictures. From 2 different parties (one at a college in NJ, the other at a bank in the Bronx). I put them aside for some reason. But I don’t remember what it was. Soooo, wellllll, I like the pictures.

At least I made these. I’m glad for whatever actually does get done.
Today I face-painted (It’s 2 a.m. - I guess that was yesterday) in a beautiful backyard. Fun people.

A Political Pundit

November 19th, 2009

Whatever your political views, you gotta admit that this guy must be drawn.
I saw him in a movie, and I just had to stop and draw him:

“Aw, you can do better than that, Alison” I told myself.
So then I drew this one:

The reason I drew the first one is because I’m searching for a quick easy way to make party Caricatures - so I wouldn’t have to work/focus so hard when I’m at the party. But it’s just not as good. I can do these high-quality Caricatures if I give it the effort, and it’s really worth it. Still goes pretty fast, but I feel compelled to skip the extra steps it involves when my clients push me to focus on quantity.

I really like the 2nd picture better.
So I gave it a litl more effort.
Added in some shading:

And then - Photoshop! I added in a wild background. Just for fun:

(I hope you realize that I’m drawing Al Franken here)

Trust Your Professionals

October 2nd, 2009

This was a lovely party. I had previously worked for this client’s sister; they both made me feel so appreciated that I looked forward to seeing them again. But I didn’t really like her idea of putting a party hat someplace on each person’s picture. I think, if they’re hung up afterwards, the party hats give a silly ‘personality’ to each person. Would have been better to just have me preprint a logo - something like “had fun at Stuart’s 60th Birthday” - something like that. But, hey, I gave it a chance. It’s what my client wanted. And we all had fun.

Here are some of the pictures that I drew there:

Sides of Faces - Part I

September 15th, 2009

Studying the sides of faces. This is what I came up with last night.
(I made up this face):

There’s so much more I want to study - like, how to
Caricature the SIDE of the face.
(I hope I get up to doing that)

Body/Hobby

August 31st, 2009

body/hobby takes longer to do than face-only.
and it also cuts into the play an Artist can do on the face.
I do it when I’m asked, but I really think that Face-only is better for Parties.
If you ask my opinion about it, I’d recommend leaving the Life-Stories to the Studio Caricatures.

Still, we all had a blast at this Party.
