It’s that time again. A lot of Studio Caricatures been coming my way.
I never cease to be amazed at how each one is different ~
each client is different. Each picture is different.
Each experience is different.
This time I was booked to draw at the older girl”s 5th Birthday Party.
My client, having seen my blog, decided that it would be a good idea to draw the Birthday Girl and her sister ahead of time. To have it on display. To make sure they’d have time to be drawn….. So she also ordered a Studio Caricature. Good. That’s nice.
Then the Agreement arrived. Ummmm, on it the Mother wrote that the girl is sensitive. So I shouldn’t accentuate ‘certain features’. Ummmm. Lol. Which features doesn’t she like? These girls look like absolute Dolls! Did you ever see anyone so cute??? And anyway, how am I supposed to make it look like them if I’m not free to work with what I See? Has she seen this blog??? I thought this really shows how I see things, how I draw things.

Okay. I start drawing. Thinking Beauty. Lovely. Beauty. Lalala. And here’s what I came up with. I love it. Feels perfect. But it’s black/white. I was hired to make a Color Caricature. Oh.

So I went to the Office Supply Store. Made a photocopy on Shiny Paper. And Matted it as an extra freebee for my client. Because I thought that Color would ruin it. I’ll post the Color copy when I have it.

Oh - Thousands of pictures pile up here in my Studio. I was just enjoying this one that popped up - It was a Studio piece that I did over a year ago. I remember doing it well - the way I enjoyed the face that my client asked me to work with - the scene my client requested - my friend’s adorable feet which I used as reference when I had to draw the scene…..
I’m putting it onto my blog so I’ll be more likely to come across it again. I particularly like remembering my friend’s feet. The life of an Artist. What really goes on behind the scenes when we’re creating stuff.

BTW - I had the woman’s name and information about her company written in the oval at the bottom of the picture. I just covered up the information to protect her privacy.

This was a fun Studio Caricature. If you heard the client’s instructions, you’d understand how I really did everything she wanted….
almost overnight. Picture was ordered at the last minute. She wanted it done right away. I prefer at least one week per face for Studio work, but if the customer doesn’t allow…..
This one, rush-order,
but so pleasant. It just flowed right out of me:

I love when Clients remember that I have a heart too -
When they make the effort to let me know that my work was appreciated. I work real hard for this.
Look at the beautiful email that my client just sent about the Studio Caricature in the previous post.
I’m smiling. I’m so glad:
(Quote)”I wanted to thank you again for the gift caricature. My parents loved it and were practically in tears. You helped to make their anniversary very special and memorable.” (EndQuote)
