What a pleasant surprise I had last week.
There I was, drawing at a restaurant on Fire Island.

The woman I was drawing was talking to me.
“I had this done years ago”, she was saying.
“It’s at my house, right across the street”.
“I’d be interested in seeing it”, I said.
To see if you still look the same.
The next thing you know, she’s back in the restaurant
with this picture:

It was done by a good friend of mine.
Marty Macaluso. Eighteen Years Ago!
I was so excited.
And it still looked like stuff I’ve seen him drawing recently.

And this is my Caricature of Glenn. He liked it. Abstract.
Glenn manages and draws at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Florida:

Having fun with the other Artists.
Don comes from Michigan.
He showed me his photo:

So much to work with here.
I focused on those cheeks in this Caricature:

But I didn’t think it was funny enough.
So I focused on the eyes!

Haha ~ I didn’t really focus on the eyes…..
I’d like to go back and try something else with the cheeks,
but I really have to get to my Commission just now.
I’m drawing up some Coloring Pages for a Clown.
Someday, I’ll probably draw those cheeks again.
I like playing with the other Artists.

I recently decided that I needed new Specialty Clothing.
First, I drew Caricatures on the front and back of a tshirt.
That’s useful at some Parties - especially the ones where
I’m hired to draw on tshirts:

Then I had an old jacket that I had been keeping in my car
just in case a client surprised me with an outdoor Party on
a day that I considered too cold (I keep sunscreen for
the other extreme). Anyway, I was unhappy when
I had to wear it because it was an old thing that
I could ‘junk around’ in my car instead of
hanging up like we usually do with our clothes.
But now that I painted on it, I am not only
looking forward to wearing it for those
‘emergencies’. Now I’m thinking it’s too nice
to crumple around in the back of my car.

Now, this is something real useful. Laying on the chair in front of the picture
is an apron that I prepared for the times I’m asked to walk around a Party doing
Caricatures. The little apron has two pockets for holding my drawing supplies:

BTW, I drew the Caricature above to test out the apron.
Nothing like standing up and holding your supplies to encourage
you to draw real fast!

And now, just a little bit of gray shades, and look at how much
more dramatic it looks:
