Got to Focus

Posted 27 days ago

Repeat Client for tomorrow's Event ~ Hey! That's today already.

I wanted to get some sleep, so I was just going to do a quick linework Caricature with this Event in mind, but..... this is what happens.

The Event is for drawing the Guests as Mermen and Mermaids. For a Beer Company. Not sure, but I think they will be providing the background bodies/scenes this time (they're providing the paper). But just in case, I felt like it wouldn't be a big deal to draw my own while practicing with a random face I found online. But messing around, not Really Doing it, just a waste of time. I finally had to focus.

And it is good that I do Something before an event. Honing my approach now, I'll do better and feel more confident when I'm actually At the Event. First, my Sizing was way wrong. Better now, but I still want to play around with sizes a little more. Then I had trouble turning my front-view body. I really must Look at sideview bodies to figure out how to turn a front-post that I might like. Then, well..... I couldn't get away with 'I'm not really going to give effort to the drawing because it's time to get some sleep' idea. If I want to draw a Caricature, I really have to Do it. The 3rd pass is finally usable. Now I know how to do it.

I'm baaaack. Woke up and I'm able to draw Caricatures again. I attached a small paper to last night's _________________. And as I predicted, I'm super ready to handle tonight's #Event. Only forgot the 'crown' ~ easy ~ but just fussing and complicating my Zone. I can do it when that's what I'm hired for, but I'm supposed to be a CARICATURE Artist. Based on what I actually See.

Draw'm as if they were a-Nake-it

Posted Mar 2019

Oh hahaha ~ I just got in from the Event where my Client wanted me to draw people as though they were Mermaids and Mermen. And as expected, I didn't get tiiime with each person so I could make elaborate scenes. It's usually all I can do to draw their Faces in the amount of time that a Guest would be staying with the Artist. So I had to cut back on details and just draw real fast to include the Body/hobby in addition to the Face. And ahahaha!

Hahahahaha. Apparently I was walking around the Bar surprising people with pictures of themselves which hinted at them to be undressed. Because my Client hired me to draw them as Mermaids and Mermen ~ on the spot ~ and those Mermen don't wear shirts ~ and by the time I got up to their bottoms, I barely had time to throw in a Tail. What a Funny night I had ~ and I didn't even know it until I got home and looked over the pictures that I had quickly drawn and given out.

A good time was had by all

The Unhappy Mermaid

Posted Sep 2018

Darn it. I have to go to sleep already. So I can handle tomorrow's Event. But I want to Draw Draw Draw. Still on Mermaids because it is required for tomorrow's Party.

This time I decided to forego the upper body. Just go right into the Tail. Then I decided to keep it black and white. A black and white mermaid.

and how about sticking this Unhappy Mermaid under the water altogether ~ unable to get where the sun is. I figure that could be a good reason why she's sad. Not that water is bad ~ but being Confined ~ unable to move out of your place ~ that could make a Mermaid sad.

I just wish I didn't let the sun shine through onto the bottom of her tail. I feel like that diluted the message. But that's how it is with direct unedited work ~ done with Markers and Color Sticks that canNot be erased. The immediacy of this approach is excellent for capturing action or emotion ~ It's just cooler than overly edited overly controlled pictures. But it also has a downside. Like in this case ~ the yellow. I wish I didn't put the yellow onto the bottom of the 'tail'.

and i feel happy because it's imperfect.
