Caricature Event coming up for this Weekend ~ at a loud dark Bowling Alley in the Afternoon. So I figure I'll be drawing mostly Children? Just a guess ~ I still wasn't told what Type of Party it will be.
To practice, to warm up, I just drew the linework based on reference photos of Children that I found on the web. To be in the groove.
then I studied simple Shading ~ assembly-line-style. Just putting the shading onto the finished Caricatures.
Of course, I discovered some things by doing this. The first is that lol ~ the reason I don't have the pretty Burnt Sienna Colorstick with my Gig Supplies is because they're all I have in my leftover scraps that I keep in my office. (but I'm not going to change that ~ the soft brown that I keep for my gigs is more useful.)
Then.... less is more. Unless I'm drawing something Dark. And maybe I'll bring along the smooth (lightweight) paper for tomorrow's Event ~ for smoother shading. But I'll also carry these regular heavier papers because the lightweight paper felt too flimsy for me the last time I used it At a Party . and Never color in the whole section between eye and eyebrow. That could make for quicker production as Parties.
