Photographing my Pictures

Posted 3 days ago

I drew this Caricature on Shiny Paper. Shiny Glossy White Paper. I like the Feel of how the Marker Glides on Shiny Glossy Paper.

But which is the better way to Photograph it? I wish the Photo just looked like the thing I was photographing. I wish the Paper in the Photo looked like it was the Same Color as the Color of the Paper that I chose. But no. Doesn't work like that.

The photo that looks like the paper has a Pinkish tinge ~ that one was Unmaninpulated ~ Photographed with the ORIGINAL Setting on my Phone. Probably picks up the Warm Tones of the Lightbulb in this office.

The photo that looks like the paper has a Bluish tinge ~ that one was done with the Setting called VIVID COOL.

I feel like the photograph done with the ORIGINAL Setting ~ looks warmer, nicer, more approachable. A person might prefer to see himself in this light.

I feel like the photograph done with the VIVID COOL Setting would more likely be described as being on White Paper. Looks cleaner, fresher, newer.

So I don't know which is the better way to Photograph it. But I feel soooo glad that I'm writing about it here. Because I can Finally let go of my Angst about this issue ~ trying it both ways, looks looking trying to figure out which photo to post. I now see that IT USUALLY DOESN'T MATTER WHICH ONE I CHOOSE. They're both good. Different, but good. and if there is some reason why I want this Setting or That Setting, I now know a little more about Photography

Loops and Scribbles

Posted 6 days ago

I never know where my studies will take me. Tonight I sat down to draw Lines with my Markers (as usual). But I noticed my Color Sticks here ~ Perhaps it would be a good idea to draw (wide-line) Shapes with Those instead.

I tried different Pressures. Nope.

I tried different Papers. Nope Nope.

Maybe I should stop using the Side of the stick. Maybe I should Color Color Color real fast with the Point of the stick. Well.... a little better.... a little smoother...... but I cuts into my mojo.

Perhaps I should use those Artist Chalks that I bought many years ago, but never used. No ~ I still feel like those add to the Show because people don't usually Color with their Gloved Fingers ~ but the actual picture comes out looking Wishy-Washy and it can get on people's Clothing.

Back to the Color Sticks. Perhaps there's a Colorless Blender around here ~ like I'd have time to do That at a Party. But no ~ I was never into that. So I tried to smooth the Color with a Wax Candle. That didn't work. Then ~ hahaha ~ I decided to just make Scribbles of Color with the Point of the Color Sticks (and a Few Small Side-Swipes) ~ and I developed this Playful Color Application. Looks Happy.

What a Surprise. As usual, I don't know where my studies will take me.

I don't see myself using this regularly at Events, but I just Might swing into it once in a while. Makes a Unique and Happy Caricature.

Oooh ~ almost 3 am ~ I'm feeling Loopy (Tired)

Late at night now. I just grabbed two of my Favorite CARICATURES from a recent Corporate Event. This group of people was so Confident, so Happy. I could just feeeeel their Vibe.

I hope I get a chance to post some more pictures from this Event soon. A Company Party.

Line Quality

Posted 17 days ago

Playing Scrabble. Waiting for my friend to put down a word already. I'm doodling.

Funny to think that the first picture here ~ the one with the rougher lines ~ might actually be more useful as my practice. Because I've been drawing graceful lines ever since I was a little girl pirouetting. It feels very natural for me to draw like that. But the chunkier lines? I've only been using then for about 10 years now. By practicing them, I'm more likely to switch to this type of Line when I'm drawing Caricatures.

That's why I like to draw in a Real Party situation. No time to think. No time to control very much of what I draw. Yet I feel thrilled about feeling confident. By practicing now, my hand automatically does it when it's needed at an Event.
