Levittown Winter 2009

February 15th, 2009

It’s my new iphone. Apparently it’s so easy to use
that I took soooooo many photos. I can’t possibly post
them all. But here’s a few more from this weekend’s
Levittown Winter Event:

Brimstone

February 15th, 2009

Happy Day. Working at a local Community Center.
A pleasant-looking man sits down for his picture.
“I’m usually the one with the crowds around Me”, he says.
Apparently, he’s a famous fighter - was recently signing
autographs at the big Comic-Con in the city.

He went out to his car and came back with a signed autograph
for me. Note the problem that frequently comes up when
people ask me to draw from photographs. They don’t look
like their photographs! This one shows a typical problem
with photographs. His hair looks absolutely black in the
untouched photograph. It happens because of the
lighting and the camera:

I’m going to take this opportunity to quickly upload a few
more pics from today’s event. It was great to be alive -
or rather, drawing live at events:

Quick Cacs

February 13th, 2009

Hi ~ I’ll be working 2 big events this weekend.
Nothing unusual about that, but I’ve been sooooo into some detailed
Oil-Painted Caricatures today (that take like 10-hours to do each one).
Drawing 10 per hour is a different game.

To refocus, I did a few Quick Cacs here tonight. From miscellaneous
photos of strangers that I have around here. Well, to make it more
interesting for you, see if you can pick out the one of the famous
person. One of these Quick Cacs is based on David Bowie:

Take a Break

February 11th, 2009

Whew. I have been so intense lately.
With developing Oil-Painted Caricatures
and preparing my taxes
and even my new program for cleaning the house.
In addition to my usual work.

I really enjoyed this break.
Just had to simply draw a few faces
that are not ‘required’.
It was sooooo relaxing:

Trying to make sense of Ado-less-sense

February 9th, 2009

A wild party. Loud music, small space, lots of kids being encouraged to ‘dance’ (jump around and wiggle) by the dj. On the one hand, I wonder what it is that we’re teaching them. On the other hand, I wonder if we’re not teaching them anything anyway - we’re just enabling them to do the things that kids naturally do.

Here are some of the pictures I drew.
My natural tendency is to question things, but through this job of working at Parties, I’ve learned to give it up and just jump in. It’s fun.
