I do Roaming Caricatures.

February 1st, 2009

Here are some pictures from a Party on Football Sunday.
I did Roaming Caricatures -
Roaming around among the guests.
It was Wall-to-Wall people.
All Fun.

I like to see if any of my ‘Pregame Ideas’
from post of 1/29/09 show up.
I see pom-poms,
spinning football on finger,
and 2-hands gripping football.

Oil-Painting

January 30th, 2009

I did it. A very productive morning for getting to projects that I ‘plan on doing when I get a chance’. I decided to practice an Oil-Painted Caricature. It had been stressful to do them in the past - because I was having trouble coordinating my favorite (alla-prima) oil-painting technique with my Caricature (marker) skills.

It came to me to try a different technique. I ‘found’ the Caricature while searching with a chiarascuro. In a way, it was easier than drawing a Caricature with a marker. Harder because there was more to do, but easier because this technique made it possible to do more.

(This was not a job - It was just for studying. I am now offering both chiarascuros as well as completely developed paintings as Gift Caricatures.)

Time Management

January 30th, 2009

It’s amazing. This project sat here for Over Ten Years, but it took less than half-an-hour to do. I just fixed this blanket this morning:

I had made this blanket back when I was in college. Didn’t have my own car back then, so when visitors came for one of the guys on the hall, I was ‘like a kid in a candy-store’ when Russ’s parents took me to a supermarket. I’d buy anything. One of the things I bought was some Ugly mustard-colored acrylic yarn and a crochet-hook. Came back and made this blanket with all sorts of scrap yarns - trying to make it prettier than dark-mustard-yellow.

Well, some of the yarns were less than desireable - the blanket soon started to have holes in it.

Do you know the difference between a store-bought-sweater and a hand-made-one? The warmth of this blanket was Special. So I was going to fix it with better yarn - when I got up to it.

That was over ten years ago. Busy days - it never got passed my to do list. Until this morning. A friend could use some Special warmth.

So I sat in front of the tv. With some light-lime-colored yarn (that’s the best I had here), and crocheted the holes together. It only took a half-an-hour.

Nothing is a big deal. You just have to decide to do it.

Pregame Series

January 29th, 2009

I brought my car in to the mechanic today -
Needed new brakes, so I sat in the Waiting Room
for quite a while.

Thinking about the Upcoming Superbowl Party -
because client asked if I could draw body/hobby
on some of the pictures.
Looking through magazines in the Waiting Room
with some people who were very unhappy to be
there. Here are some of the ideas that I drew.
I like to see if any of these ideas will come up
during the Party.
