Marcia
September 23rd, 2007This morning, my friend from high school called. She’s been living in Florida for a long time now, but she asked me to draw her from memory. (I have seen her several times in the past few years.)
This is what I came up with. I hope I get around to making it into a sample so I’ll think of her sometimes when I get to gigs.
I bring different samples to different parties. But maybe you’ll notice this one at yours. Her name is Marcia.

Self-Criticism
September 21st, 2007An Off Day? You tell me.
I was drawing on the street today. My early Caricatures were all right, but the later ones felt stiff.
Frustrated, I drew an extra picture between customers. This is a picture of a woman who was sitting on a bench nearby. Yes - it really was a woman:
Then, still disappointed in myself, I drew some people I saw on the train ride home:
Looking at them this morning, I don’t think the pictures look so bad. This really is how I remember those people looking. I’m particularly pleased with the sideview of the lumpy man.
Remembering how I felt yesterday, I’m thinking that the pictures I sold were probably fine. I came across the pictures that I scanned in just now while clearing out yesterday’s supplies. I also took a few photos of actual customers with my camera-phone. Sometimes the camera phone pictures are useable. Sometimes they’re blurry and unusable. If anything can be seen, I hope to post them later.
Good Day? Bad Day? Good Pictures? Bad Pictures? The right thing to say? Who can tell? How can we judge our lives?
All I know is to keep on keepin’ on. And I do like these pictures.
Court Jones
September 19th, 2007Still playing with that picture of Court Jones. And playing is the word for it. Getting a little wild tonight.
So Many People - It’s a Big World
September 14th, 2007I had a chance to play with that last picture I posted.
I put it into PhotoShop, cleaned it up a bit, and added some real bright background colors:
Here’s the reference photo I had used to make that Caricature:
It’s a picture of an Artist from California:
Ramon Sosongco
I like people.
