In My Car

January 27th, 2008

So busy. Worked on a Studio Caricature all week. Caricature gig on Friday. Face Painting gig on Saturday, and another Face Painting gig today. My house is falling apart. It’s tax season. And I think I’ve discovered the answers to life - if only I had time to work on them.

But what I did do is listen to the Arkhams new cd on my way home from tonight’s gig. It was really soothing because a friend disappointed me. I loved it all so much that I blasted the volume for the last 20 minutes of my ride. Whoops. It was fun, but now I need some

silence.

Glad the house was quiet when I got home. Came up here and recaricatured one of the most recent pictures that I drew here:

And how about this one:

Pop Art

Still deciding. Oils or Acrylics. Oils or Acrylics. I just finished another Painted Caricature:

I struggled through with this using Acrylics because I love the bright colors of Acrylics.
But the actual experience of using paints that dry so fast
causing me to keep putting globs of hard gunky paint in the rag
while I spend so much time nervously cleaning the brush
which pulls me away from the Painting Zone is it worth it? I e I even tried an Acrylic paint Slow-Drying-Gel this time. Made it
a litl better, but no where’s near as pleasant to work with as Oils.
I’m really an Oil Painter! Maybe they’ve come out with brighter Oil
Paints now - It is 2008 you know. Anyway, I struggled with this
picture until the very end. As I finished adding color to the white flowers,
my mood finally lifted. Every time I see this painting, I can’t help but smile.

And here’s a quick picture of the girl’s mother:

Lettering

November 14th, 2007

Graffitti. It’s finally sinking in. That we don’t just get the feel of
the letters we are going to write
and then write it.
It needs a predraw - to figure out changes in the letters
depending on the word and the space.

Here’s the word ‘train’ that I wrote
with a new style of Graffitti that Elgin Bolling recently dreamed up:
