6 years later

Posted May 2013

I felt so good at this Communion. I had drawn this man at his son's First Birthday (that's the picture with the cards). Then I drew him again at his son's Communion (I got a photo of him holding it this time).

I asked him to wait until I drew the new picture before showing me the old one. I felt so happy to see that I saw the same thing both times. Both excellent Caricatures ~ I was happy to see that I did know what i was doing back 6 years ago. I thought the drawings were much harder for me back then, but maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe it was Ten years ago that it was harder?

Anyway, i hadn't seen these people in many years. Feels like it was yesterday, but apparently, the babies sure grew a lot in that time.

what could they be thinking??

Posted May 2013

Well, I guess they were just in
Party Mode. A Happy Wild Bar Mitzvah Party.

This was a very unusual one. I was hired to draw at a man's 60's Birthday Party. But they had decided to do it as a recreation of his Bar Mitzvah ~ from when he was 13 years old. So there we were ~ with a bunch of 60 year olds trying to remember how they felt (and acted ~ yeow) when they were 13 years old. Okay.

I'm just there to help. Just Entertainment. But why why did they position me in front of the bathroom door, next to the loud musician, in a dark room with a RedRed light which couldn't even be toned down with the lights that I brought along. I'm not in charge. I go where they tell me to go.

Caricatures. Aces. It's amazing. But photos? They didn't come out so well under those conditions. I'm not set up to take but the simplest of photos. Just a quick photo from my iphone. Here are the ones that I managed to make usable by changing the lighting in PhotoShop.

People constantly walked between me and my easel to go to the Bathroom! Egads. Red light affecting the faces that I tried to see in the Dark. Couldn't communicate with the guests over the loud music. But I drew. We had a Blast! The Guests and I would have felt more comfortable if I wasn't right in front of the Bathroom door. I would have done a lot of things differently. What could this venue have been thinking??

Fashion Show ??

Posted May 2013

Fashion Show? I was hired to draw the people in the audience. So all I saw were people from the audience. Oh.

My back was turned to the stage so the person I was drawing could still see the show. Hey.

Well, I guess they sported 'the fashion of the day'. Looked different that what I would have been drawing if I was drawing an audience during Colonial Days. Or an audience during the Rennaissance.

It's all fashion. Even though I couldn't see The Show, something that I don't usually get a chance to do, I did have Fun my own way. That's something that other people don't get to do unless I'm at their Event. Even though I do it several times each week.

Fashion Design

Oh yes. This will be Fun. I haven't done Fashion Sketches in a while, so I felt like it would be a good idea to refresh my approach before a Fashion Sketch gig that will be coming up soon.

Yes. I like this. Much Fun.
