Corky Romano
May 14th, 2009I just watched the movie, Corky Romano. Tempted to draw while watching, as usual. I chose this actor, Richard Roundtree - because of some parties that I have coming up. I’ve been getting a lot of Parties to do Caricatures on the white t-shirts that are supplied by my clients. I usually don’t color the whole face when I’m working on the t-shirts, but I didn’t feel Confident on the times that I did want to color the whole face. Since I would have wanted to color Roundtree’s face, I decided to draw him.
And instead of using PhotoShop or Color-sticks as I usually would, I used a heavy brown Chartpack marker. First trying to leave out Highlight, trying to shape with Contours….ick. Then I finally found a technique that worked! A quick, simple technique to color an entire face, add in a few shadows, and Yes! I’m thrilled with it!
I’m just in such a good mood. I learned 3-D Face-Painting today and applied it to the best skull I ever face-painted yet. Will the growth never cease? I’ll post a photo of that Face-Painting if/when I ever find it in the thousands of photos that I have here…..
To be continued……

Who’s Afraid of a Little Rain ?
May 10th, 2009This is your life. Even if it rains. Your only chance to be 6-years old is when you’re 6-years old. Wouldn’t want to miss it just because it’s raining out.
That’s what happened at this Communion. I felt bad for the
lovely woman who planned this beautiful outdoor party figuring
that she’d have a beautiful May day. It was pouring outside.
Even under our tent, the beautiful lawn became muddy.
The beautiful spring dresses. The white roses.
This was her daughter’s Special Day, and
it rained.
My hostess graciously offered for me to set up inside. But it wasn’t quite that cold, and I preferred to be where the party was - where the Reggae band was - where the caterer had set up the bar….. So I braved the weather along with everybody else. This is your life - Can’t despair just because it rains:

The Painter’s Restaurant
May 10th, 2009Here’s some photos I snapped while I was working at
The Painter’s Restaurant. It was such a Fun place
for doing Party Art. Wall to ceiling Artwork. To my
eye, I’d say that most of it looked like unprofessional
work - reminded me of being in High School. But it
made for an excellent atmosphere. So much stuff
was actually intriguing to look at it all. I loved it there
