Corky Romano Continued

May 22nd, 2009

It’s a good thing that I ‘learn my lines’ before I’m ‘On’.

Now I tried the brown marker on a tshirt that I had drawn
at home several years ago. It works! I’m constantly developing
my abilities.

The Arkhams at Crash Mansion

May 22nd, 2009

Here are some photos that I took during the Arkhams show.
I got so involved with the music that I didn’t draw any Caricatures
(hey - it IS my time off), but I’m posting these photos anyway.
So I don’t lose them - I’d like to see what I can come up with
from these photos some day. Not the best references for
Caricatures, but I’d enjoy it anyway.

Preacher Man and the Revival

May 22nd, 2009

Last night I went to a Fantastic show at Crash Mansion (NYC).
Quite upright. To see Bobcat (in the Arkhams).
Might have been their best show ever! At least, the
best show I’d seen yet. Intricate energetic music
and a fascinating almost hypnotic stage show.

Always noting new bands, I also enjoyed
Preacher Man and the Revival (which opened for
them). Seemed like a real uplifting gospel-type
show full of encouraging energy - almost as intense
as the Arkhams. I couldn’t get decent photos
of the new band, but it was easy to draw some
Caricatures with the highlighters that were in my
folder. Bigger and more upscale than most of these
types of bars, the lighting was fine!

Kids are so cute

May 20th, 2009

The way kids react to stuff. This Party, for instance.
They show up - ready to have a good time. So honest in their responses as to whether or not they’re having a good time. Tears pop out as readily as amazement. Wonder.

I guess it’s similar for Adults. We come to a party, a store, work - expecting to be appreciated, expecting to find stuff to enjoy. Wanting to be proud of ourselves. But perhaps adults are more reticent than kids? Deep down we’re still hoping, but we’re not so surprised when it doesn’t happen? Instead we’re so happily surprised each time it does happen? And perhaps we’re not as confident to express disappointments immediately - Perhaps we hang on to them until we finally choose to express them?
