On 11/15/08, I wrote that I would post photos
of the Artists that I had just drawn. I found
some of their photos here. So many wonderful
pictures. My life is so full of wonder. We’re
living in ‘the future’.
I drew Artist Scott Hamilton:

I drew Artist Brian Vasilik:

I drew Artist Mike Giblin.
BTW, he referred to this picture as “a real belter”!
I drew Artist 2-handed Mikey:

I drew Artist Matt Zitman:

I drew Artist Yuri Kato:

I drew Artist Mary Thompson.
And here’s what she had to say about it:
“I think your work is fantastic - a real inspiration.
The line work is calligraphic. The coloring is delightful.
Composition is dynamic. The subject is recognizable
but you have taken the image way beyond. Magic!
“When I teach I will be showing your work as an example of
the best in caricature today.”
So I have to say “Thank You Mary!” Could it be that I will be
written into those Archival Art History Books some day???
I have arrived!

And I drew Artist Gwenda Saunders.
Here’s what she said about it, Gwenda Saunders from
New Zealand - “I absoluted LOVE it. Getting it put in a frame
to hang on the wall!”:

Oh My! What a surprise. First I was surprised with
a visit by some Artists from Japan. Then I was surprised that
a super-bright-neon-orange scanned as white in my
HP PhotoSmart C4180 scanner. We are living in miraculous times!
Really, I had cut out the face/body, and glued it onto
bright orange oaktag - Um, if we were talking a value-scale of 10,
with 10 being the lightest and 1 being the darkest,
this bright orange would have a value of, um, 7.
That would certainly show up on this Computer. But it came out white!
Probably because of how very Bright it is.

And here’s the same picture that I played with
another way:

Arigato!

It’s a Whirlwind ~ and That’s okay.
So much on my mind - the email problem that I wrote about yesterday just compounds my current personal dramas. Setting boundaries on the homefront and really missing,
I mean Really missing my friends, and here I go to work. For me that means thrown into Your Parties!
Where I drop it all, all that stuff I just wrote about. And I’m inundated with beautiful wiggly kids and happy grown-ups who think that pictures pop out as soon as they say the word. Okay. Whew. And today I was even in terrible lighting conditions. Didn’t think of taking out my own clip-on lights because the room was not dark.
It’s just that the bright light was Directly Overhead. Made the top of everyone’s Nose light up, their eyes fade into shadow….
I wonder if catering halls even concern themselves with how well their clients will look in the lighting. Next time, I’ll remember to make things better for myself.
So there I was today. At a 1-year-old’s Christening. Couldn’t think - just smiled and drew and Enjoyed. No matter what.
Now that I’m back in the Studio, I’m glad to see that I have Nineteen photos on my phone. That’s Nineteen pictures I drew in Two Hours - And most of those were even doubles - two people on a page. With all these crazies going on, I’m still so thrilled to see what good stuff comes out. I’ll show you some of the pictures:
