The Quest

August 6th, 2008

Studying continues.

Today I decided to simplify. At first, I thought this was perfect. Here’s a simple picture drawn with basic answers:

‘This will make my job easy’, I thought. So I drew another man. Ick - what a crummy picture. I had to draw him again. The 2nd one came out easily, but I can’t very well draw everybody 2ce at a party:

Maybe that was just a difficult Caricature. I tried the simple approach with another photo. Counfounded again. I was only satisfied with the 2nd picture:

Sooooo, it might look easy, it might be fun, but I still have to focus and work at it when I’m creating Artwork.

Custom-Made

Custom-Made - That’s the word!

I was recently asked to describe
my Studio-Work. I do so many
different things there. So whatever
it is, it’s Custom-Made. People
have so many different ideas - and
I design something tangible from their
esoteric Words.

Cast of Thousands

August 4th, 2008

Perhaps I should Title this blog “Cast of Thousands” (like the old movies). There’s so many people in the world - so many people I’m going to draw.

I’m even thinking of not taking photos for a while. Like in the olden days before my cellphone could take photos. Actually, I was even doing this work before we had cellphones. Anyway, here’s another batch. These were taken at an Office Party in NYC!

Exaggeration

August 3rd, 2008

Exaggerrrrrr Ashun.

I’m at it again. Just blabbing on the phone and these pictures came out. The first picture of each person was just a quick, simple picture. But then I drew it again, and……

At least this time I liked them all - even the first simple ones. There’s something good about both ways.
