Self-Criticism
An Off Day? You tell me.
I was drawing on the street today. My early Caricatures were all right, but the later ones felt stiff.
Frustrated, I drew an extra picture between customers. This is a picture of a woman who was sitting on a bench nearby. Yes - it really was a woman:
Then, still disappointed in myself, I drew some people I saw on the train ride home:
Looking at them this morning, I don’t think the pictures look so bad. This really is how I remember those people looking. I’m particularly pleased with the sideview of the lumpy man.
Remembering how I felt yesterday, I’m thinking that the pictures I sold were probably fine. I came across the pictures that I scanned in just now while clearing out yesterday’s supplies. I also took a few photos of actual customers with my camera-phone. Sometimes the camera phone pictures are useable. Sometimes they’re blurry and unusable. If anything can be seen, I hope to post them later.
Good Day? Bad Day? Good Pictures? Bad Pictures? The right thing to say? Who can tell? How can we judge our lives?
All I know is to keep on keepin’ on. And I do like these pictures.
